SACA JURY GUIDELINES
Updated December 9, 2018
SACA Jury Sessions are typically held twice annually, and any member may submit their work for evaluation after completing the registration application and fee payment. At the jury session, the combined decision of the jurors is “Accepted” or “Deferred.” A member whose work is “Accepted” becomes a Juried Member and this status is shown in SACA’s membership list. Juried Members retain this status throughout the time they are SACA members. Members who register late or let membership lapse and then renew keep their Juried Member status.

SPACE IS LIMITED to a set number of applicants. If you want to be placed on the wait-list, complete the entire application, pay the fee, and the Jury Coordinator will notify you if the session can accommodate you. The fee will be refunded promptly if there is no room. No walk-ins are accepted on the day of the session.
A jury session is always double-blind; artists and jurors don’t meet. Artists are not identified to jurors at any time in the session. You will drop off your work in the morning and return in early afternoon to retrieve it.
Jury Requirements:
- Register and pay for the jury session on the SACA website by the deadline. Complete the Artist Form for all five pieces you will bring.
- Bring five pieces of your best work to the session. Your pieces should fit well in a space approximately 30”x30”. Affix a small 1”x1” label to each piece in a prominent position with a number from 1-5. If your pieces are too large for that space, contact the Jury Coordinator to ask for accommodation.
- Bring any stands, easels, and fabrics to display your pieces to best advantage.
Please thoroughly read the Jury Guidelines to understand the judging criteria and tips for jurying. View or download the Jury Guidelines.
Instructions for Jury Day:
- Please plan to arrive at the stated time to set up your display. Plan to leave promptly because judging will begin shortly thereafter.
- Please return for your work at the designated time. If you need to ask for different drop-off or pick-up times, contact the Jury Coordinator who will try to accommodate your request.
- The jurors’ decision about your work will be emailed to you by the Jury Coordinator within two days. The decision is “Accepted” or “Deferred.”
